Located north of Eureka California, close to the Oregon border is a magnificent national park of extremely tall trees and abundant wildlife. This coastal Redwood forest receives significant rainfall and has moderate temperatures. Many of the Redwood trees were logged many years ago, but the U.S. Forest Service is restoring the environmental damage in order to ensure a healthy forest for generations to come. Depending on where you travel in the park you may see the elusive, endangered Marbled Murrelet, Ruffed Grouse, Harbor Seal, California Sea Lion, Gray Whale, Roosevelt Elk and Black Bear. It’s a great place to visit as a destination trip or pass-through while travelling between Oregon and California.
